Building Lawang Sewu or in the Indonesian language is a thousand doors is a historic building in Indonesia located right in the city of Semarang, Central Java Province. This building, formerly an office of Nederlands-Indische Spoorweg Maatschappij or can be abbreviated as NIS. Built-in 1904 and completed in 1907. The building is located near the Tugu Muda roundabout which was formerly called Wilhelminaplein. Local Semarang people call it or recognize it by Lawang Sewu because this building has very very many doors, although, in fact, the number of doors is not reaching a thousand. This building has so many windows that are high and wide, so people often regard Semarang as a door or a mace. This ancient and majestic building which has a second floor after independence is used as the office of Djawatan Kereta Api Repoeblik Indonesia or can be in short DKARI or now that can be called PT Kereta Api Indonesia.
